The Flyers unveiled their Winter Classic jersey today at training camp kickoff, which was pretty much what everyone expected: a white version of their "retro" jersey. Not so sure I dig the black nameplate.

Lookin' forward to seeing what the Bruins unveil. Could it be this?

that word mark should be orange, not black.

joe, do you mean the nameplate? i don't think there's a need to reverse out the name at all on the white jersey. black letters on white jersey works just fine. i guess they were going for consistency with the orange version.

I would actually say they didn't need to do the nameplate color switch on this one. That never actually happened on the White jersey, only the orange. It should have just been white with black text, as per: http://nhluniforms.com/Flyers/Images/Flyers04.png
Also, who is the small fry next to Holmgren, Briere?

yea thanks i meant nameplate, and daniel briere is about as tall as a ten year old girl.

My dad kind of made a point to me while I was complaining about the black name plate that it might have been done so that it's easier to read the names in a stadium like Fenway or out in the snow (higher contrast). Is it ugly? Yeah, but I guess it has practical purpose. Hopefully if the Flyers make this their full time away jersey, they'll go to a standard white name plate.

that's not a bad point by your dad. there's really no need for the black nameplate if they ever wear this full time.

As for the Bruins, I'm liking what I'm seeing in the leaks so far (http://thebostonsportsnetwork.wordpress.com They're even going with brown instead of black (the jersey looks black, but there is brown in the logo so I'm thinking the jersey probably is too).
I was wishing more for something like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/DaveCormz/wcbruinsuni1.png

Not sure I like that Comic Sans lookin' "B", but hey, that's just my opinion. I do like the jersey in the link you posted, Dave. The one with the bear. Nice lookin!

Dave, I fixed your link. Now everyone can see the hottie! Hubba hubba. Oh, and the Bruins jersey.
And before any of you can zing me, I'm talkin' about the female.

This jersey is an exact contrast to the retro one out now. White Nameplate with black lettering.

It was done for fashion purposes. I think it looks dope. But I don't wear cowboy hats.

White nameplate with black letters would have looked better.
As for Briere being small, I think it's a bit unfair and it's a bit tricky. Paul Holmgren is pretty tall.

That style B Bruins logo was never put on a yellow jersey according to nhluniforms.com. So this jersey can be called vintage "inspired". I like it.

went to nhl uniforms to check out slam's comment on the 'B'.
on an unrelated note:
The 1958-59 photo on nhluniforms shows the gold pants - which reminded me of a photo in one of my hockey books. In "The Spirit of the Game" on page 162, there is a picture of a Boston player (Stasiuk) with the metallic gold pants - they are quite shiny (it's just a yellow gold shown on nhluniforms.com).
don't think they'll ever bring back those things.

The University of North Dakota men's team debuted their new Reebok Edge Uniforms today. The men's jersey is the white one at the beginning, the next three are womens jerseys.
