Could the Hanson Brothers be lured out of retirement in order to reign terror on the Federal League again??
Nah, but a new hockey league has been announced, and if there's one league that needs a foil-laced knuckle punch to the chops, it's the Federal Hockey League for this logo masterpiece. I would love to see the Craigslist "designer wanted" post for this thing. But I digress...
Here's the story on the new league from The Federal Hockey League's own website.
Syracuse, NY (Dec. 17, 2009) -- A new professional hockey league focused on strong local ownership delivering high-quality competition in affinity markets opens for business today in the northeastern United States and Canada. The Federal Hockey League, sporting a red, white and blue shield-oriented logo, has confirmed franchises in four key cities and plans a six-team, 60-game schedule next year. The league is headed by Commissioner Don Kirnan, a Syracuse businessman and junior hockey team owner who serves as Commissioner of the Empire Junior Hockey League. Kirnan, a member of USA Hockey’s Junior Council, is operating the league from his offices in Syracuse.
Charter teams in the league are located in Rome, NY; Danbury, CT; Thousand Islands, NY (just south of Ontario, Canada); and Ottawa, Canada. Ownership groups in Philadelphia and Jamestown, NY, have expressed interest in joining the league.

This is still a much better logo than that Rage logo you posted yesterday!

Are you crazy? That RAGE logo is one of the best logos of all time!

Would you happen to know if they need any help with designing team identities? Could be a cool shot for someone here on puckdrawn.

Hey Mike, sorry about that. I've been having issues with comments and even getting emails! No idea what the deal is, but I'll have to contact TypePad to see how to rectify it.
Speaking of the FHL, I thought I read somewhere that Philly may also get a team. Any news on that?

Mike,
No, I did not take down your post. I very very rarely take down any comments. You can see for yourself in the Totally WW2 Germany posts. I've been slammed as being a racist for including Germany in the project - as if they were somehow not in the war. But whatever.
I only take down a comment if someone is a blatant asshole towards someone's design. Constructive criticism is totally fine, but I won't tolerate an ass being an ass for no reason other than being an ass.
You seem to have a lot of knowledge about the FHL, so let me ask you, do you know who the ownership group is for the Philly team? Do they have a name selected? What about a building to play in?

Damn, I was looking forward to Philly joining the league!

Mike, I'm gonna have to collect all of your comments and put them in one long blog post. The FHL has been one fun league to follow. From logos to owners stadiums! Interesting stuff.

When you can feel the things you want to feel able to say what you feel when this is a very happy time.
