Today's the last day to send in your Ducks Rebrand. Voting will begin tomorrow and last until Monday night. I think all weekend and one work day is enough time for people to vote. Feel free to tell your friends to stop by and vote too!
Here's a design that I got from Patrick Finney, a new PuckDrawn reader, and hopefully long time contributor. Always nice to see some new blood.
While I'm not inspired by the secondary mark, I'm VERY impressed with the creativity and unique way Patrick handled the primary. Two flying ducks, mirrored in such a way that they form an "A" for Anaheim. So very clever.
I'd love to see the complete uniform set for all of these, but I'm satisfied with seeing the home darks, as the dark set has always been my favorite in sports. I always feel jipped with the away unis. Too much white! More color I say!
Speaking of color, this palette seems a little washed out to me. I'd prefer to see a stronger dark green tone. But that's just my taste.
All around, this is a very nice design.
.....
Another Ducks concept came in minutes after Patrick's submission. This one sent by an artist named angle.
angle's concept is more on the minimalist side, with a good color scheme and a traditional style jersey design.
I'm curious as to why the home and away jerseys have different stripe patterns. Typically you see the home and away match, with the alternate being where the different look comes in. However, the rules of this was to re-imagine what the Ducks currently have and I'm not about to squash someone's imagination!
I think the duck's head form works best on the white jersey. I'm not feelin' the white outline on the dark.
What I like most about angle's logo is that it would fit in perfectly as a 60's or 70's concept.
Your thoughts on both of these Ducks submissions?

On February 1st, the Hardford Wolf Pack (AHL) will unveil their specialty jersey that features the logo that was designed by Mike Ivall, a regular contributor to PuckDrawn.
Mike was the winning designer of a competition held by the Wolf Pack.
From the Wolf Pack's website:The March of Dimes Specialty Jersey Auction is back and better than ever! Join the Hartford Wolf Pack as they auction off their game-worn specialty jerseys and raise money for the March of Dimes!
The specialty jerseys will be worn by the players on February 26th and 27th.

More great work by Mike! I really like the way he incorporates the Rangers crest into the primary design and the wolf looks menacing but not so much as to give the minor league hockey fans (many of whom are kids) any nightmares. What I really like is the unique striping on the arms of the jersey. I'm not as crazy about the striping on the front of the jersey, but the arm pattern is unique and really cool.

I actually prefer the alternate logo in the first ducks submission, while the 'A' logo looks nice close up, I don't think that it works very well on a jersey. In fact I haven't really thought any of the 'A's worked well. They tend to be too thin, and don't stand out very well. In addition, the bottom of the 'A' usually comes out as too long and droopy looking. Anyways, the foot print with the puck I think is pretty genius, and looks sweet. I also like the colour of green chosen, however I don't know how good it would look in the NHL on a rink, so maybe a darker shade would be better.
The second design I also really like, I Have noticed that the simplest NHL logos are generally the best, and anything with a lot of shading and stuff going on looks minor league. This logo is simple, has no shading, and very little going on... It could use a bit more going on actually. But all in all, love the new concepts.

Okay. I have an idea that I wan't someone to do. It's for the "Anaheim Firestorm."
It may be too late to get it in for this contest, but I'm not a designer and I really want to see what someone comes up with.
Firestorm because of all the fires.
...I had an idea that if it were a hockey jersey it could have flames and somehow show "distant" ducks flying out of the fire.
(I realize this is far fetched because it is probably to similar to the Calgary Flames)
With all the green and orange color combos for the Ducks though, I don't think you can go wrong with this name.
...anyone want to take it on?
(I've gotta learn how to use Illustrator...)
Email me if you got something. I'd be curious.
