Couple of things for your Monday...
Here's another entry into the Original Six: Toronto Maple Leafs Re-branding Competition sent in by Mike Ivall. This team gets a new name: The Toronto Titans.

And for you DIY-ers, here's a Germany Olympic hockey jersey made by Will Scheibler. Will created the eagle crest and sewed it on top of the existing screen print. He also created the name plate and sewed it on top of the sponsor logo.
Pretty cool stuff. I'd love to see more of this DIY (Do It Yourself) type stuff!
Here's what Will did to create his jersey:
Found a picture of a German eagle online. "Blew it up" to a bigger size and printed it out using the free version of the program Posteriza (good simple program if you want to enlarge and print out images larger than 8 1/2" X 11" or 8 1/2" X 14"). Glued, with a glue stick, the printed out paper onto some thin cardboard (from case of pop or something similar) to make a template and cut the eagle shape out with scissors (may have also used Exacto knife). Used the template to draw on the back of some tackle twill material (bought from a local seamstress who does all the numbering and the like for the local sports shops) and cut out the tackle twill eagle shape and 'shield' shape. Took the eagle crest and 'shield' to a local shop that does vinyl number transfers, and got them to heat press the crest on the jersey; to make extra sure the crest stayed on permanently, I then sewed the crest onto the jersey. Normally I'd just iron on the crest with a normal iron at home, but the! re were too many points and angles for a good temporary hold. The points and angles made sewing it on more than somewhat tedious.
For the name plate: Printed out my name in a common sports font; glued the paper name to some thin cardboard for a template, and cut out the letters and used them to draw on the back of some tackle twill material. Ironed and sewed the black letters onto a white rectangular piece of tackle twill and iron and sewed that onto the jersey.
The jersey itself i got from a trade of jerseys from a team mate. It had some screen printing on the front and on the back above the numbers. Part of the reason i made the eagle so big was to completely cover up the screen printing on the front - personally think it looks pretty good that size.

Just the other day -up at the About section of the site- I put up a little note about having some guest writers create some content for PuckDrawn.com. I love the site and love dedicating my time to it, but I feel that my lone voice may be a bit boring day after day, month after month! So, to break things up, I'm gonna have some guest writers entertain you now and then.
Glen Cuthbert looks to be the first guest writer here, and we're looking at the first post by him to be on Friday. I'm lookin' forward to seeing how this works out. Hope you enjoy it.
If you're interested in writing, send me an e-mail and we'll see what we can come up with that's interesting and on topic.
.....
Ok, only one concept ... sorry.

Good job Mike!!

Thanks. I'm wondering if we should close the re brand if there is no more people submitting?

Yep, the close date for submissions is this Friday, but I think I've gotten all the designs that I'm gonna get.
I'll work up a post tomorrow for when the voting will begin, as well as announce the next team. (Looks like the Rangers as of this post)

2 weeks may be a little long for a competition for 1 team. Maybe change it to a week and a half for the next original six team. It does seem like we have already gotten all the submissions we are going to get in total. Should just keep this deadline since maybe some people are still counting on that announced deadline and for the next one make the time frame smaller.

This competition had a THREE week window! haha. So a week and a half to two weeks is enough. I think a week and a half is probably better since we still have 5 teams left.

Whoops, could've sworn it started two weeks ago.
