The Davidson Cup logo competition is underway, and you can check out the first three submissions by visiting the official page. If you'd like to take part, the official rules are posted there as well.
The puck will be dropped soon for the USA Vs Canada in the gold medal game, so it's only fitting to post this Team USA concept by Mike Ivall.
I like the current Team USA jerseys, but I think it could use a cool looking crest, rather than just the letters "USA". I'd love to see some sort of shield as shown here in Mike's concept. There are a number of designs out there that, I think, would look better than what Team USA has been wearing for a long while.
Here's my updated version of this crest. Here's a photo of Mike Modano wearing the 1932 "throwback".
And then we have this beauty.
This is ok. I like the round crest, and I like the USA logo with the red stripe/flag treatment, but it just seems a little too contained within that circle.
This is a nice logo. It's a little more patriotic, but still missing that nationalistic feel that I like so much.
Oh, but look at this fuckin' mess of a jersey!
This probably should have been a very comprehensive post about Team USA's jerseys/logos, but since this is the last day of the Olympics, I'd say that I missed the boat!
Special thanks to Spyboy, for his AWESOME collection. Most of the links here are from his website (Third String Goalie) and personal collection.
.....
One last thing: Somehow I missed entering Mike Ivall's Toronto Arenas design into the Toronto Maple Leafs Rebranding Competition. Check it out. (Sorry Mike)
