Rangers Re-branding Competition Rules:
Note: This is a re-branding competition, not a jersey tweak competition. Rules will now be strictly enforced and your submission will be subject to the scrutiny of the PuckDrawn community! (All that means is, play it safe and don't submit a mere uni/logo tweak.)
1. Team name: You may change the team name or keep "Rangers". The team is still based in New York, so the city name may not change. If you decide to change the team name, a very brief explanation as to why is required. UPDATE: You may NOT use the team name "Americans".
2. Team colors: Your choice.
3. Team logo: Create something original. You may not use the Rangers primary or secondary logos, nor any of their past logos. So, no shields used in such a way that look like current and past Rangers shield logos. Also, no angled/arched text that resemble current/past Rangers designs. You may not "Frankenstein" any of the previous/current logos to cobble together some "new" design.
4. Create a Home and Away concept.
5. Third jersey design is not required, but if you wanna create one, have at it.
6. You may not create an updated version of a jersey or logo design from another team in any league (past or present) and call it a Rangers re-brand.
7. You may submit only ONE design. Make it a good one. However, you are allowed to make design alterations and re-enter that same entry as many times as you'd like up until the submission deadline date.
8. Your submission must be ONE graphic presentation file. Don't send me a graphic with your uniform design and another graphic with your logos on it.
9. Sign your work!
Submission deadline is Saturday, February 20th.
Technical info:
When submitting your artwork, remember that the width of my blog content area is 470 pixels. So, if your presentation is wide, when I reduce it to 470 pixels, your logo/jersey images may appear smaller than you'd like. Take a look at the Ducks submissions for a good idea on how best to layout your presentation.

can't wait! i'm a huge rangers fan, and their uniforms and logos have been almost the same since their inception. I expect a lot of people will do stuff with the statue of liberty logo. I can't wait to see what people come up with!

IMO the rangers already have the perfect brand in the statue of liberty logo, it is just not the brand they are using. For the contest though I'm not sure yet what to make my primary logo, but I do have a good idea for the shoulder patch.

As a Rangers fan, I'm honestly frightened of this contest. While I'm sure there will be some great designs, I'm also sure they're be some that will make me want to vomit.
Nothing personal to the artists, I just can't imagine anything adorning the NYR beyond the word-mark. They're the only team that's ever done it well and after the disaster with the shield on the chest anything else frightens me. Though the Lady Liberty was a good one, so there's always hope.

Ian, as a Flyers fan, I can see where you're coming from. I hate EVERY Flyers concept I see. But, this is just a fun project for graphic designers and fans of hockey design. It's fun to see what different designers come up with. The critiques and criticism also helps aspiring sports designers grow. Just have fun with it.

Funny, as and Islanders fan I usually love seeing concepts for them, especially lighthouse logos. I think the islanders should go for a design like that in the future since I've never been a fan of the original logo, looks like an ugly smiley face to me.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time nor know-how to come up with a design for this one, but I'd love to see someone run with the idea of the New York Twins (In hounour of the twin towers).
